An Ohio-based law firm, Waite, Schneider, Bayless & Chesley, today filed a major class action lawsuit against Toyota Motor Corporation and other Toyota affiliates. The case is based on the sudden acceleration defect in millions of Toyota automobiles that has caused injuries and deaths.
Approval ratings of Florida’s once popular Governor Charlie Crist are plummeting. A newly released Miami Herald/St. Petersburg Times/Bay News 9 poll reveals that a mere 42 percent of Florida voters believe that Charlie Crist is doing a good or excellent job as governor. By a long stretch this is the worst rating that Crist has received in his near three years in office.
The Florida Lottery announced today that no ticket matched the six winning numbers in the Saturday, October 31, FLORIDA LOTTO™ drawing, resulting in a rollover that produced a $25 million jackpot for the next drawing. However, more than 55,000 FLORIDA LOTTO players won cash prizes in the game.

Marie Raymonde Louima, 64, is missing. Louima was last seen at the Metro Place Apartment located at 925 South Kirkman Road. She may have taken a Lynx bus to downtown Orlando. Louima has dementia and is on medication. She only speaks Creole.
An ethics committee of the House is investigating the activities of over 30 lawmakers and several aides for misconduct. It shouldn’t have been made public, but the report of the ethics committee was leaked to The Washington Post. The Committee Chairman, Zoe Lofgren (D-California), interrupted a number of House votes to put lawmakers on notice about the breach.
NASA’s space shuttle Atlantis is targeted to begin an 11-day flight to the International Space Station with a Nov. 16 launch from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Liftoff is scheduled for 2:28 p.m. EST.
Commander Charlie Hobaugh and his crew of five astronauts are scheduled to arrive at Kennedy at approximately 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, for final launch preparations. Joining Hobaugh on STS-129 will be Pilot Barry Wilmore and Mission Specialists Leland Melvin, Randy Bresnik, Mike Foreman and Bobby Satcher. Nicole Stott, an astronaut who currently resides on the station, will return home with the Atlantis crew after living in space for more than two months.
Construction on the new Amway Center in downtown Orlando meets a milestone as the placement of the final steel beam is recognized by the traditional “Topping Off” ceremony, which will be held on November 5 beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the construction site (corner of Church Street and Hughey).
