America’s Disappearing Middle Class

Today, one in five Americans is unemployed, underemployed or just plain out of work. One in nine families can’t make the minimum payment on their credit cards. One in eight mortgages is in default or foreclosure. One in eight Americans is on food stamps. More than 120,000 families are filing for bankruptcy every month. The economic crisis has wiped more than $5 trillion from pensions and savings, has left family balance sheets upside down, and threatens to put ten million homeowners out on the street.

Hungry Cavs Win in Orlando

Wednesday night’s game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Orlando Magic may have appeared to be the perfect recipe for a tight, competitive game of basketball. In reality, fans everywhere were about to watch Lebron James and his Cavs run over a Magic team caught like a deer in the headlights as Cleveland steam rolled their way to a 102-93 victory.

Obama’s Coat Tails Fall Short

United States President Barack Obama spent a considerable amount of time traveling across America trying to drum up votes and support for Democratic candidates seeking victories in the recent 2009 elections. White House African American employee Van Jones resigned his post recently after conservative pundits called for his removal from office when excerpts from Internet and other messages rose from the shadows. Appointed as a special adviser for “green jobs” by President Barack Obama, Mr. Jones did not go through the traditional process for administration officials who must be confirmed by the Senate.

Obama’s Planned Speech to Students Creates Divisiveness

President Barack Obama planned motivational address to students next Tuesday, has sparked off another controversy across the nation, with some schools deciding to show the video, while others will not be doing so. Obama’s, objective was aimed at exhorting students to work hard and set educational goals, but this backfired when the lesson plans created to accompany the speech recommended that students “write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president.”
