Joshua Meyer and Kristian Kosme of Orlando, Fla. have been selected to represent the AT&T employees in Central Florida who have supported and been active in the AT&T Aspire Mentoring Academy program. They represent the thousands of AT&T’s approximately 240,000 employees who volunteer their time year-round to help build strong, connected and thriving communities. As part of the company’s national Make a Difference Day involvement, AT&T is making a $7,000 contribution to Junior Achievement of Central Florida in honor of the service to Junior Achievement that AT&T’s employees represented by Josh and Kristen provide to this organization and their community.

“We are proud to celebrate AT&T employees who volunteer their time, talents and passions to make a difference in the world around them. I am inspired and encouraged by our Make a Difference Day winners for this year, and these contributions are just one way to say ‘thanks’ for the service they provide to their community every day,” said Jason Leiker, AT&T assistant vice president of Community Engagement.

AT&T is making special contributions to three nonprofits in total as part of this effort. The other two honorees include Sharon Berning (Raleigh, North Carolina) – Saving Grace Animals for Adoption and Jerry Cates (Fairbanks, Alaska) – Alaska International Senior Games. The winners were selected from amongst the thousands of AT&T employees who reported their volunteer time through the company’s volunteerism portal.

Created by USA Weekend magazine, Make a Difference Day is the nation’s largest day of volunteering and was celebrated last year on October 26. Together with its long-standing partner Points of Light and the generosity of Newman’s Own, USA Weekend rallies millions in a single day to help change the world.

“Both Joshua and Kristian have been dedicated volunteers for Junior Achievement. They, along with the other AT&T volunteers have been instrumental in our ability to mentor and inspire hundreds of students in Central Florida. AT&T is a valued partner with Junior Achievement of Central Florida,” stated Dan Cockerell, JACF Board chair.
