Orange County Sheriff’s deputies said that a toddler died on Monday evening in the pool area of the Westgate Lakes Villa Resort and Spa on Turkey Lake Road, after he wandered off to the Jacuzzi.  Investigators say no charges are pending.
According to OCSO:
At approximately 5:16 pm yesterday May 24, 2010, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of an unresponsive child in the pool area of the Westgate Lakes Villa Resort and Spa at 10000 Turkey Lake Road. Investigators from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit report that a mother from Memphis was at the resort with her 3-, 5-, and 8-year-old children, and a number of other extended family members, including grandparents.
At some point the family was in the pool area and the three-year-old child was playing in the small pool for children. Subsequently, and unknown to his mother and others in the party, the child wandered into the Jacuzzi and was found there unresponsive. The young boy was transported to Dr. Phillips Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Deputies say that no charges are pending against the mother of the child or any other family member.
The name of the toddler or his mother has not been released.
