Miami-Dade Jobless Rate Plunges to 8.8 Percent

The jobless rate in Miami-Dade County plunged to 8.8 percent in September, in part due to stronger hiring.

While the number of job seekers declined in Miami-Dade last month, the number of people describing themselves as employed increased by about 2,400. That led to a steep drop from August’s 9.2 percent unemployment report. If not for the decline in the labor force, unemployment would have hit 9 percent in September.
