Dr. Phillips High School Student Charged in Dating Violence Incident

Orlando police have determined that the altercation and subsequent cutting between two students at Dr. Phillips High School was a dating violence incident and have charged a 17-year-old male student.

Antonio Acevedo has been charged with attempted murder (dating violence) and aggravated battery with a weapon, after police say, he cut a female student, with a pocket knife.

Police also say, Acevedo and the female student, also 17-year-old, had been dating for three years.

After the cutting incident, which took place in the parking lot of the school around 7:30 a.m., both Acevedo and the female student were taken to local area hospitals for treatment.

Acevedo remains in hospital where he is being medically evaluated, police say.
