Madness: Man Guns Down Ex-girlfriend, Co-Worker then turns Gun on Himself
A man who gunned down his estranged girlfriend and a female hotel clerk early on Thursday, is believed to have taken his own life, Orange County deputies say.
33-year-old Michelet Polynice entered the Quality Inn on 7400 Canada Avenue just before 8:00 a.m., where his ex, 28-year-old Carlene Pierre worked and opened fire, killing her, investigators say. Polynice then turned the gun on another female clerk at the hotel, shooting her to death, investigators also say.
Deputies believe that Polynice then drove to the Westgate Lake Resorts at 10000 Turkey Lake Road where he shot 31-year-old Jean Guerline, a friend of Carlene’s. Guerline was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center where she underwent surgery.
A short while later, investigators say, a man believed to be Polynice was spotted by an Orange County Sheriff’s deputy around 9:30 a.m., in the area of Hiawassee and Blue Earth. Upon seeing the deputy, Polynice fled across Hiawassee exiting northbound on Powers Drive.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Polynice then put a handgun to his head and pulled the trigger, causing the vehicle he was driving to crash into a tree, erupting into flames.
Investigators believe that the person in the vehicle was Polynice, who was pronounced dead in the 3100 block on Powers Drive.
While the medical examiner will make the final positive identification regarding Polynice, detectives have confirmed that he was responsible for shooting all three victims. Investigators have not released the identity of the female clerk who was killed along with Carlene at the Quality Inn.
Although early in the investigation, it has been determined that Polynice had been served with an Osceola County injunction by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, yesterday.
The investigation is ongoing.
