The Board of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority approved a nearly $446 million budget for operation of Orlando International Airport (MCO) and a $3 million budget for Orlando Executive Airport. The newly approved budget for MCO represents a 2.3 percent increase over 2012.

The board also approved ongoing upgrades to the existing baggage claim areas to the tune of nearly $5 million, the third phase of an existing carousel enhancement project. The upgrades are aimed at enhancing efficiency and baggage security for the traveling public.

The continued upgrades come in the wake of a recent surge of luggage thefts at the Orlando International Airport.

Last week, two people were arrested for stealing the baggage off carousels. Stephen Brown and Angel Campos were charged with grand theft and jailed, wftv.com reported.
