High School Principal, 88 Others Arrested in Prostitution Sting
A high school principal and 88 other suspects were arrested during an on-line prostitution investigation, deputies say.
Cecil E. McClellan, principal of Kathleen High School is accused of engaging in on-line prostitution, Polk County Sheriff’s deputies also say.
Yesterday, McClellan solicited a female under cover to meet for sex and had called and talked to two other female undercover detectives about paying money for sex, investigators said. He arrived at the hotel wearing a Kathleen High School football shirt and agreed to pay the undercover detective money in exchange for sex. After his arrest, investigators learned he was the principal of the Kathleen High School.
Investigators launched an undercover on-line prostitution sting on August 24, which concluded on August 30. In addition, to McClellan, three women who traveled to the area to make money in “adult entertainment” were also arrested during this period.
A Orlando man, Glen Kershaw, 39 years, was among those arrested. Kershaw was charged with traveling to meet a minor for sex and attempted sexual battery on a minor. Investigators say, Kershaw traveled to Davenport on August 29, to meet with whom he believed would be offering him the 11-year-old female child to engage in sexual intercourse. He was immediately arrested in the parking lot of a retail store, investigators also said.
62-year-old Michael C. Shorette, of Winter Haven, a licensed general contractor, was also among those arrested for solicitation of prostitution and battery on a law enforcement officer.
Three women, 23-year-old Courtney Lane, 23-year-old Markisha Moguel, and 23-year-old Maleka Williams told detectives they were “nude dancers” who traveled from Alabama specifically to find work in the “adult entertainment” industry during the Republican National Convention.
