Grayson Buries Rivals in Fundraising Haul
The latest fundraising totals from the campaign of former congressman and current congressional nominee Alan Grayson (D-Orlando) proves that he is the overwhelming favorite to win in November.
An analysis of the financial disclosure for the 2nd quarter of 2012 reveals that Grayson has raised nearly eight times as much money this cycle as all the Republican candidates in the race combined.
The fundraising advantage is just one reason why several media publications have described Grayson’s campaign as “all but guaranteed,” and a “virtual slam dunk.”
Several polls show Long as the strong favorite to win the Republican primary.
“Todd Long is clearly too conservative for this district. I guess that after three campaigns, people are finally starting to realize that his support of the Fair Tax, his approval of the Ryan budget to cut Medicare, and his endorsement from Herman Cain make him nothing more than a tool of the Right Wing,” said Grayson.
Here is a list of the Grayson campaign’s total raised this cycle, in comparison to the Republican candidates’ fundraising numbers posted on the Federal Election Commission website:
Grayson vs. Republican Candidates in District 9 (aggregate)
- Alan Grayson (D-Orlando) $2,784,575
- John Quinones $156,558
- Julius Melendez $94,680
- Mark Oxner $88,587
- Todd Long $29,457
Grayson is the Democratic nominee for the new U.S. House of Representatives District 9, which encompasses Orange, Osceola and Polk counties.
