On the college scene, Dr. Phillips HS graduate (1996) and Hall of Famer Beth Dieter-Torina has guided the unseeded LSU Tigers to the College World Series in her first year as head coach. LSU knocked out eighth seeded Texas A&M in the regional and ninth-seeded Missouri in super-regional play over the weekend to advance to Oklahoma City where they’ll face top-seeded California Thursday, 5/31, at 3:30 pm! She is believed to be only the second head coach to take her team to the College World Series in her first season at the helm. This will be LSU’s third trip to the CWS and first since 2004.
