Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, has been forced to apologize today for forcibly shaving the head of a high school classmate who was regularly taunted for being gay.
According to reports, Romney grabbed tearful John Lauber and hacked away with a pair of scissors because he thought his bleached blond hair was ‘wrong’.
Romney’s apology comes one day after President Barack Obama’s surprise announcement that he now supports gay marriage, a position he says has evolved overtime.
Obama’s new-found support of gay marriage, which stands in stark contrast to Romney’s view that “marriage is between a man and a woman,” is sure to be a major campaign issue in the coming months.
