Deputies, FDLE Agent Shoot, Kill Man on OBT
Three Orange County deputies and an FDLE agent opened fire on a 30-year-old suspect, killing him on Orange Blossom Trail and Colonial Drive.
It all began just after 8:30 p.m. Thursday, when deputies along with FDLE agents and the U.S. Marshall’s Service attempted to serve an arrest warrant on a black male suspect in connection with a City of Winter Park robbery.
The task force agents in their vehicles were able to contain the suspect in his vehicle on North Orange Blossom Trail near Colonial Driver, where he began ramming the deputies’ vehicles with his own in an attempt to escape.
Three deputies and an agent from FDLE, in an effort to eliminate the threat, opened fire on the suspect’s vehicle, fatally wounding him.
The Orlando Police Department is investigating the shooting as it took place within the city’s limits and involved deputies and an FDLE agent.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) has not released the name of the 30-year-old suspect or the deputies involved in the shooting. In line with OCSO’s policy, the deputies involved will be assigned to administrative duties for a period of at least one week.
That is all the information we have at this time.
