The Caribbean is calling the Air Passenger Duty (APD), paid by all travelers leaving Britain, unfair because of how the system is structured and tourism officials say it will damage the economies of Caribbean islands as less tourists will be able to afford travel to that region. An increase in the tax will go into effect on November 1, 2010.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Tuesday night on State Road 50 near the St. Johns River Bridge. Troopers said that Scott K. Barker, 42, of Orlando, was driving a 1998 Ford vehicle westbound on State Road 50 around 6:00 pm on Tuesday, when for an unknown the vehicle drifted onto the shoulder.

Zach Segal Arrested on Minor Drug Charge

Zachary Segal, son of Orange County mayoral candidate Bill Segal, was arrested earlier this week and charged with drug charges. Segal, 28, was stopped by deputies at the intersection of Kaley Street and Lee Street, a high crime area, after he pulled his car well ahead of the marked white stop bar for the stop sign.
