Rattlers Prepare For Opening Week
The Florida A&M University Rattlers football team had a busy weekend preparing for their season opener on Sept. 5 against MEAC foe Delaware State University. The Rattlers held a final scrimmage in Bragg Memorial Stadium on Saturday. The scrimmage was in fact a dress rehearsal; complete with fans, referees, the Marching 100 and an announcer.

Monday, September 7, 2009 marks the 42nd Anniversary of the West Indian American Labor Day Carnival Association Annual Celebration in Brooklyn, New York. The fun and splendor of multi-colored costumes, and pulsating tropical rhythms from the Caribbean Diaspora energize the entire New York region, attracting spectators from all over the world. The Annual Labor Day celebrations generate millions of dollars for the city and state of New York, which help to stimulate the economy.
Boozed up Deputy Arrested
A Volusia County deputy, driving under the influence of alcohol, crashed into a police cruiser before he was apprehended. Investigators in South Daytona said that John Harvey, one of their officers, who was driving a personal car while off duty, hit a police cruiser from behind and get on going.

If my memory serves me correctly, I thought many people voted for Barack Obama in hopes that he would end the war in Iraq and bring American soldiers home from other countries…. I want my President to stand up and speak out for things that are best for all Americans and not just parrot the governmental lobbyists or rubber stamp whatever big business tells him to.

Kennedy Gets Beloved Farewell From Thousands
Ted Kennedy’s body lay for a second day on Friday in a flag draped coffin at the John F. Kennedy Presidential library in his hometown of Boston, where thousands turned out to pay their respects. It is estimated that some 45,000 persons–old, young, black, white, straight, gays–filed passed the casket over the two-day period where Kennedy’s body lay in repose.
Discovery Lifts Off
With seven astronauts and a host of experiments and equipment on board, space shuttle Discovery completed a flawless ascent into orbit Friday night to begin a two-day chase of the International Space Station. With Commander Rick “C.J. ” Sturckow at the controls, the shuttle lifted off on-time at 11:59 p.m. EDT from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
